How It Works
Introduction
Explain that laughter is contagious, and today we’re going to test it.
Execution
“One person starts with a fake (or real!) laugh. The next person joins in, then the next. Keep going until the whole group is laughing. Encourage exaggerated, silly, or dramatic laughs – the more playful, the better.”
Debrief/Reflection
Ask: “How did that feel?” or “What changed in the group atmosphere?” It usually sparks genuine joy.
Tips & Variations
- For remote: spotlight one person at a time or go by participant list.
- Great to break the ice in groups that don’t know each other well.
- Combine with a quick body shake or deep breath to reset afterward.
